The mission of the School of Nursing is to shape the future of nursing through the power of education, discovery, and collaboration.

Chief Purpose of this position: 

This is a Term Research Faculty position in the School of Nursing. The faculty member will develop and maintain a funded research program that is independent and/or supportive of new and existing research in the school. The role will include grant writing and imparting knowledge to others for grant writing, research development, and research implementation.

Position Responsibilities: 

• Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in designated areas of research.
• Obtains or maintains grant funding for independent and collaborative research
• Facilitates research and evaluation processes in designated projects.
• Assists the Office of Research in research development activities for faculty and students.
• Disseminates knowledge and research findings through articles, papers, monographs, protocols, book chapters, or other similar means.
• Presents clinical papers, programs and/ or continuing educational offerings in area of expertise.
• Actively participates in the transmission of knowledge and skills in area of expertise to students and faculty and the community.

Required Qualifications: 

• Hold a research PhD or equivalent degree
• Exceptional research writing skills
• Grant writing experience
• Teaching or research development experience
• Proficient knowledge of research implementation and regulatory compliance
• Previous project management experience
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of previous grant funding success
• Proficiency with research implementation tools (e.g. REDcap, Smartsheets, Open Science Framework)
